Urban tribes are made up by groups of people – usually young, with a distinct common identity: the same appearance, the same identity symbols, the same rules, the same language, the same music… A whole ideology!
We are going to analyse the following urban tribes.
Manga
Goths
Emos
Heavies
Grunges
Punks
New Mods
Skaters
These tribes have many different ideologies: right-wing, left-wing, non-political or against globalization. Some of them are nearly extinct, and others in full expansion. But all of them are ruled by it own ideology.
Type of Urban Tribes
EMO: This urban tribe was born in the 80s from punk and the name comes from "Emotional Hardcore Music". They are very extended by America and Japan and the majority are teenagers between 14 and 20 years old. They have a pessimistic point of view of life. They are very concerned with their appearance and they don't believe in religions. They hear music from "My Chemical Romance" and "Panic at The Disco"
They wear slicked hair covering a little part of the face, piercings, Converse trainers and black T-shirts.
GRUNGES: This urban tribe was born in Seattle in the 90s and they are very interested in music and refuse the consumist society and people without personality. They hear music from Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth...
They have a dirty look and they wear stripped and coloured T-shirts or "scottish" shirts, ripped jeans and coloured shoes.
GOTHICS: This urban tribe was born in the 80s from punk. They are sometimes in specifics bars. They are apolitics and they admire everything about death and the occultism. They look like a violent tribe but they're peaceful. They hear music from "Bella Morte" or "Black Ice".
They wear black clothes of leather, spiked accessories and religious elements for example crosses or five-spiked stars.
HEAVIES: This urban tribe was born in England in the 70s from rockers with hippies ideology. It is one of the most diffused urban tribe, especially in popular classes. Heavies like to do weekend outings, hear music from Heavy metal bands, go to gigs and sometimes smoke cannabis. They're antimilitarist and antiauthoritarian. Hardly ever, they're violent but they can be violent by musical excitement or alcohol and cannabis.
They have a long hair and they wear jeans, spiked leather jacket and black T-shirt from their favorite music bands.
HIPPIES: This urban tribe was born in the 60's with Vietnam war. They like to take drugs. They proclaim the peace and love. They don't like the policy and they have anarquists ideas.
They have long hair and use colorful clothes.
POSH: This urban tribe there is always but with different names. They like to play paddle, go shopping and parties. They like to hear music from Julio Iglesias and his sons. They're capitalists and consumists.
They look close attention to their appearance, and men and women wear different clothes themselves, the men wear tight trousers, tight stripped shirt with sweater. The women wear shirt, skirt and a lot of accessories.
PUNK: This urban tribe was born in the 70s in opossition of the culture decadence. Now, there aren't many punks but they're very radical. In bars, sometimes they be mixed with heavies and skinheads. They have an ideology anarchist, okupa, anti-fascist, anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist. They're very violent and their enemies are: Neo-Nazis, Posh and fascists. They hear punk music.
They have big and colorful crests and a lot of piercings and tatoos. They wear spiked leather jacket, black T-shirts with a social slogan or simbols(anarchy, comunist...).

Today is very common seen this people walk in the streets because they are acepted by the society and we should do this for they and for all.
The most casual form of Neo-Tribalism is the urban tribe, a term first
coined in 1985 by French sociologist MICHEL MAFFESOLI. According to Mafessoli,
urban tribes are microgroups of people who share common interest in
metropolitan areas. The members of these relatively small groups tend to have
similar worldviews, dress styles and behavioral patterns. Their social
interactions are largely informal and emotionally-laden, which stand in sharp
contrast to the formalized Machiavellian constructs of corporate culture. The
urban tribes are expanding for all the word but also with the pass of time,
they are disappearing. Tribus such as the rockers remain constant since 50´s
although also are those that existed for a short period, such as hippies of
which there are currently very few common like people of 50 years old.
At first, fashioncore (it can be written like fashionxcore or FXC) was a
joke that designs a many post-hardcore and alternative rock bands that apart
from their music, they fixed in their a bit dark aesthetic because so many
bands could be influenced by Horror Punk.
This implies that this styles became overcrowded and created a general
aesthetic, leading to a new trend, a new urban tribe. It will call fashioncore
kids.
The problem was that this word was only used by hardcore scene and similars,
meanwhile comunication media (and suposed specialized magazines) was calling
mistakely emo at these style. For this infoxication born the "new emo
kids" (fake emos).
As I said earlier, the real emo behaved as an archetype of a crying boy
but also sensitive and smart, while the fake emos were only part of the true
emo's archetype, the melancholy and exaggerated, adding gothic topics that
goths were fighting over them since years ago, like self injury or suicide
In 2006, have the boom...and all turned twisted, because thanks to "fake
emo" the fashioncore began to extend, in wrong form, but the same fake
emos realized that their music scene was plenty of teenagers with tastes more
distanced (Tokio Hotel, Avril Lavigne...) to their music and then some of them
accepted himselfs like fashioncores or scene kids.
Scenes (called scene kids too), how I told many days ago, are young people that
jumped to fashion to fashion (generally urban tribes) doing these styles in
success. Many times they mix elements and for this way this styles evolutioned
or created a new trends/urban tribes.
The problem is that in nowadays we don't have so many scenes (because
for to be it's necessary to have a importance and fame) and the most of
boys/girls that consedered theirselves scenes WASN'T, they only was confused
fashiocores again. The true scenes left the fashioncore style yet but thanks to
scenes have been created new hairstyles (like sun hairstyle in boys, the
introduction of angelbites, the kind of dyes like zebra or leopard)
